I'm no longer active in developing SANE drivers. Please send any comments or support requests to the sane-devel mailing list.

Introduction

This page covers the SANE Mustek USB2 ("mustek_usb2") backend which supports the Mustek BearPaw 2448 TA Pro USB scanner. This backend is not yet included in the stable sane-backends distribution, but it is in the development version of SANE and will be part of the next release.

The backend has been provided by Mustek and was written by Roy Zhou, Jack Xu, and Vinci Cen.

Status

At the moment, the backend works for the Mustek Bearpaw 2448 TA Pro.

The idea is to support other Mustek USB2 scanners which use the SQ113 chip and SQ11 chip by this backend later. Maybe the SQ11 will be supported by a different backend. It depends on how similar the code is.

Documentation

The backend comes with a manual page (man sane-mustek_usb2).

Prerequisites

You'll need libusb 0.1.8 or newer. You also need libpthread.

Download

mustek_usb2 is in the CVS version of sane-backends now. Either use a CVS snapshot or get the code from anonymous CVS directly.

Older versions (not current anymore, for debugging only):
mustek_usb2-1.0-8.tar.gz
mustek_usb2-1.0-7.tar.gz
mustek_usb2-1.0-6.tar.gz
mustek_usb2-1.0-5.tar.gz
mustek_usb2-1.0-4.tar.gz
mustek_usb2-1.0-3.tar.gz
mustek_usb2-1.0-2.tar.gz
sane-backends-mustek-a2nu2-0.tar.gz (original version from Mustek, doesn't seem to compile at least on my system).

Building

As usual, see "README". The backend is included in a stand-alone sane-backends source tree so you don't need sane-backends (libsane) for building or installation.
